The PAMS Board of Directors approved the Medical Missions Directors Committee recommendations to resume Medical and Educational Missions to Perú starting June 1, 2022.
The Peruvian government has extended the regional alert levels and movement restrictions through March 31, 2022, and will reevaluate and adjust public health measures every two weeks. The COVID-19 health emergency is in place through Aug. 28, 2022.
PAMS missions must fulfill the following requirements for upcoming trips to Perú:
- Volunteers must sign the PAMS Volunteer Waiver Form - Link HERE
- It is recommended that volunteers obtain travel insurance to allow for flight changes and/or to receive care in case they become ill in Peru. Most airlines provide general travel insurance or contact a travel agency for options. Below are coverages available:
- Volunteers must provide proof of vaccination. Volunteers over the age of 5 must be fully vaccinated, and must have additional booster vaccine according to CDC Guidelines - Link HERE
- Volunteers must register with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP), a free service to allow U.S. citizens and nationals traveling and living abroad. Benefits: Receive important information about safety conditions in your destination country; Help the U.S. Embassy contact you in an emergency, whether natural disaster or civil unrest; Help family and friends get in touch with you in an emergency. https://step.state.gov/step/
- Missions must have an Emergency Plan for volunteers (lodging for quarantine if tested positive, arrangements identify a local clinic or hospital for needed medical care).
