The Selva in Action Mission
In 2007, The Selva in Action mission was founded with the goal of helping the people of the Rio Momon. The mission is guided by the belief that access to health care is a basic human right and that pursuing medical care, should not involve sacrifice. Since its beginning, a group of volunteers from around the world has ventured up the Rio Momon every year to provide medical and dental care to those in need.
As a result of project evolution and expansion, the SIA team has now joined forces with health posts (posta medica) in the villages of Centro Fuerte and Punto Alegre, where we have the potential of serving more than 800 villagers. Accessible only by boat, the people who live along the Rio Momón consider themselves “the forgotten ones.”
